Fintech and AI: A View From Across the Pond
June 24, 2019
Recently, our VP of Product Aaron Junod was invited to a conference at the London HQ of European fintech giant Finastra (who bought Austin-based mobile apps fintech Malauzai last year).
Finastra's parent is Austin-based Vista Equity partners and was formed in a merger between two big European fintechs in 2017, D+H and Misys. That turns Austin into a US center of gravity for Finastra in its hopes to expand its role in the US market, where it already boasts 4,500 customers.
“I was very happy to receive a call from a leader in Finastra’s Innovation team to see if Geezeo was interested in taking on a categorization project for voice with Finastra and Maluazai,” recalls Junod. “The goal was to build a conversational chatbot with Kore.ai and Finastra.”
"The ultimate goal was to add this to Finastra’s Fusion Fabric Cloud collaborative development platform.” The platform is built with open APIs so that financial institutions can get their financial applications to market faster.
And voice can be far more complex than it seems.
For example “How much is in my checking account” is completely different than “transfer $500 to my savings account.” Then you multiply that for all the numerous commands that you want to build into a voice platform.
"It was an honor and pleasure to go to London and participate in the conference. It was great to meet so many Finastra thought leaders,” notes Junod. “Also, I had a chance to talk to people on their UI, security and architecture teams regarding the things we’re doing at Geezeo and how they intersect in their efforts.”
"I really enjoyed myself and the Finastra people were very generous with their time. And the project turned out very well. It’s a lot of fun to collaborate on big picture projects like that with teams that are so synergistic.”
